Harbeth – Monitor 40.1

The three-way flagship Harbeth Monitor has produced countless hundreds of thousands of hours of Network radio, TV and post production for more than 10 years. Now the Monitor 40.1 is the latest generation of the leading Harbeth to fulfil the ‘BBC Grade 1 Reference Monitor specification’. Coloration is by far the lowest of any monitor loudspeaker and even lower than the Monitor 40. Power handling and efficiency have been increased, system impedance raised and optimised for easier amplifier matching, tighter bass and stereo imaging in a class of its own.

The Monitor 40.1 gives a relaxed and totally fatigue free presentation that naturally and effortlessly places performers in 3D space. As with all members of the Harbeth Monitor 20/30/40 family, projects started on one speaker can be reworked on others with complete confidence despite the cabinet size range due to a common design brief and sonic presentation.

Driven from a good quality amplifier, the Monitor 40.1 provides a cost-effective replacement for the BBC LS5/8. The bass unit and RADIAL midrange driver are both made in-house by Harbeth UK from the world’s best cone material, developed by Harbeth and the Science and Engineering Research Council. Seamlessly combined for pin-point stereo and neutrality, the drive units behave like a point source irrespective of how close the listener at the desk or across the room, on and off axis.
